Elmer L. Sherwin, 91, of Creston, died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at Burbank Parke after a brief illness.
Elmer was born March 4, 1927 in Windsor, OH to the late Fred L. and Evelyn E. (Stowe) Sherwin and attended Creston High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II at had worked at Morton Salt Co., Jones Construction and on the Railroad. Elmer was a life member of the Creston Moose Lodge 1224 and had bowled on several bowling leagues over the years. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, gardening and had a love for old engines.
Surviving are his children, Charles Michael (Rebecca) Sherwin of Orrville, Jennie (Jim) Osborn of Wadsworth and Samone Sherwin, Tammy Wayts and Elmer “Butch” Shewin Jr. all of Creston; grandchildren, Trisha, Tanya, Christopher, Michelle, Nicole, Matthew, Samantha, Rachel, Taryn and Kayla’ 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Jane) Sherwin of Nashville; a sister, Patty (John) White of Wooster a sister-in-law, Carol Sherwin of Creston and his former wife, Pat (Schaad) Sherwin of Creston. He was preceded in death by an infant son, David; a sister, Annetta Guthrie and a brother Dick Sherwin.
Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 18th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
