Earnest Ferguson Jr., 87, of Creston, died Tuesday, march 22, 2016 at Orrville Pointe in Orrville following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 7, 1929 in Sharkey, KY to the late Earnest and Vinda Alice (Johnson) Ferguson Sr. and married the former Louise Ammon on Jan. 28, 1950. She preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 2014. He retired from Barefoot Sole in Wadsworth and had made his home in the Creston and Canaan area most of his life. He attended Canaan Free Will Baptist Church and and was a member of the National Rifle Assoc. He enjoyed making and collecting Indian artifacts, fishing and camping.
Surviving are his children, Dianna Decker and Debra Ferich both of Wooster and Jeffrey Ferguson of Rittman; grandsons, Joe (Amy) Decker and Jamie (Lisa) Decker; great-grandchildren, Vada Watson, Scott Decker and Jalen Decker; a brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Pat Ferguson of Nashville and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Steven in 2002; a son-in-law, Larry Decker; brothers, Newt and Vernon and sisters, Lena Steel, Eileen Madigan and Midge McIntire.
Services will be Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with his nephew, Billy Starkey officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 until time of services at 2:00 at the funeral home. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
Earnest’s children extends their since thanks to the staff at the Good Shepherd Home in Ashland and at Orrville Pointe, Warren and Deb Fetzer and to their family and friends for their support and assistance over the past several years.
