Obituary:
Donovan S. Ling, 89, of Creston, went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Hospice of Medina County at Ereritus in Medina following a lengthy illness.
Don was born Dec. 11, 1921 in Killbuck the son of the late Weldon and Rose (Purd) Ling. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II for 4 years having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the Occupation of Japan. He had worked as a machinist and in construction most of his life and was a member of the Canaan Free Will Baptist Church. He had made his home in Creston since 1991 previously residing in the Mount Vernon area. He enjoyed reading, building furniture and tinkering in the garage.
Surviving are his wife Mary, a son Milton Melany of California; 2 step-sons, Dennis Maxwell of Creston and Barry Maxwell of Wadsworth; 10 grandchildren and sisters Ada Ruth Wiles of Columbus and Margie Angle of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara McCowan; brothers Eugene and James Ling and a sister Burnedette.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Canaan Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. James R. McComas officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to services on Friday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Medina Co., 797 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256.
