Dale J. Wirth, 80, of Creston, died Monday morning, May 3, 2010 at the Apostolic Christian Home following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's.

Dale was born on June 22, 1929 near Sterling the son of the late Phillip Henry and Clara (Lance) Wirth.  He married Treva M. Gingery on June 30, 1947 and she survives.  He was a 1947 graduate of Sterling High School and had made his home in the Creston and Sterling area all of his life.  He was engaged in farming and then worked and became part owner of Sterling Farm Equipment.  He then worked at Stebbins National Bank prior to establishing his own realty business in 1973.  He owned and operated Dale Wirth Realty and Insurance in Creston where he handled many real estate sales and auctions sales throughout the area.  Dale was a lifetime member and a faithful servant of the Sterling United Methodist Church and an active member and past president of the Creston Lions Club.  He served as Zone Chairman for  District 13 and was a past District Governor for the Lions Club.  He was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.  He was a member and past 2 time president of  the Wayne County Board of Realtors and served on the North Central Local Schools Board of Education for 8 years and the Wayne County Board of Education for 4 years.  He was active in the Creston Community having helped the Creston Homecoming and Creston Fire Dept. Sale.  He was dedicated to serving his community and enjoyed the many people he served.  He was an avid walker, enjoyed golfing and making homemade ice cream.  His family and his grandkids were his greatest enjoyement.

Surviving are his wife Treva; children Carol Bozich of Atlanta, GA, Rev. Cathy Wirth of Sycamore, OH and Robert E. (Tricia) Wirth of Simi Valley, CA; 5 grandchildren, Jacob Weinlein, Jesse Williams, Whitney Wirth, Zach Harder and Tyler Wirth; great-grandsons Carter Dale and Jaxson Williams; 2 sisters Mary (Harold) Chase and Anna Mae (John) Etling both of Wooster and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother Roy Wirth and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Sterling United Methodist Church with Rev.
