Betty Hartshorne

Betty Hartshorne

October 26, 1924 - March 8, 2019

Betty Hartshorne went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the age of 94.  She was born near Burbank to the late Frank and Florence (Markel) Graf and was a 1942 graduate of Creston High School.  She lived her many years in Summit, Wayne and Medina Counties where she made many friends and memories.  Betty was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker.  She was a very caring person who was always doing for others.  In her early years she worked as a keypunch operator at Firestone.  Later in life she worked at Brenn-Field Nursing Home, First National Bank, Sheller Meats and Annat’s Department Store.  During her seventies she enjoyed working at Buehlers as a food demonstrator.  Betty had a strong faith in God and always thanked Him for her many blessing no matter what difficult times she was facing.  She always said God would take care of her and He did.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Duane and three brothers, Harold, Robert and Raymond.  She is survived by her children, Mary (Bruce), David (special friend, Liz) and Carol (Rodney), five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

While she will be deeply missed by friends and family, we celebrate her life on earth and her eternal home with Jesus.  Per her request, there will be a graveside service on Friday, March 15that 1:00 p.m. at the Ivy Chapel at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron for family and friends.  Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.

My sympathies to Betty's family.  Betty was such a sweet and kind person.  She was a wonderful friend to my mother prior to her passing in 1992.  I am certain they are enjoying each other's company again.  May God comfort all of you during this time.
