Obituary:

WELLINGTON -- Albert M. Billups, 92, of Wellington, formerly of Rittman, died Friday morning, Feb. 11, 2011, at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, after a period of declining health.

Albert was born May 7, 1918, in Fort Gay, W.Va., the son of Samuel and Millie Bell (Dawson) Billups, and had worked at the Wooster Brick Yard, for the railroad and in road construction. He had made his home in Rittman for many years, living in Wellington for the past several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his dogs.

Surviving are daughters, Goldie (Robert) Bakston of Wellington and Tammy (David) Thur of Barberton; three grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Allen Billups; two grandchildren; brothers, Wilbur Jay Billups and Allie Bartrum; and sisters, Lucy Hatten, Julia Steiner, Susie Hurley and Nora Bell Skeens.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Jim Senz officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
